Akhil Sesh is proving himself to be quite the triple-threat as an artist, songwriter and producer from Detroit, Michigan. Having just released the visual for ‘Loud Pack’ he is looking to make even more major moves in 2013. “I will be bringing in more videos for songs off the album ‘SeshedUp’ and I also have a clothing collaboration coming out with REVIVE in Michigan very soon. Keep a look out for new songs and gear! I am always recording and coming up with new things. 2013 will be a break out year!”
Extremely talented at all aspects of making music, I wonder what Akhil would choose if he could only do one. “I think what makes me who I am, is the fact that I am able to do all three naturally and seamlessly. If I were to choose it would have to be an artist. That has always been my lifelong aspiration and I essentially taught myself how to write songs and produce so that I could be an artist.”
Originally from Michigan, Akhil currently resides in California, but what does he love and hate about both places? “I love Michigan because it is home. Being with family and close friends is always comforting. At the same time however it has always been a lifelong dream of mine to live in California. The culture that has been cultivated through the entertainment industry in LA is both exciting and inspiring. I try not to focus on negative aspects but if I had to pick it would be Mother Nature for both places. Michigan can get pretty cold in the winter months and I sure don’t ever want to be caught in a massive earthquake in California!”
The album ‘SeshedUp’ is available as a free download but it is also out on iTunes and Akhil tells me why it’s important for people to download it there. “I do offer the album for free but not only does downloading on iTunes give the listener a much higher quality version of the classic, they also get to become a part of history by supporting and being a part of a movement that is rapidly growing.”
In 3 words, he would describe his music as “Cinematic, motivational and passionate” and his New Year’s Resolution is simply “Progression. That is always the goal.” If he wasn’t lucky enough to make music, he would definitely still be involved with the industry in some way. “It would have to be something within the business of music. I am so passionate about it that one way or another I would have to be in the industry in some form i.e. as an entertainment lawyer, manager, publicist, etc.”
It’s good to know I have something in common with this amazing artist as we both share the same movie, ‘The Godfather.’ Akhil reps his home town when it comes to sports and follows all the Detroit teams such as Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons and Lions. Rather than listening to a lot of other artists, he instead stays current but prefers to focus on creating his own music and recording.
If Akhil had the chance to perform anywhere he would go for Madison Square Garden in New York City. “It has always been a dream of mine to sell out an arena show and MSG is not only the pinnacle of gigs but also a true testament that you have ‘made it.’” A movie based on his life would definitely be worth a watch and when it comes to the lead role? “Will Smith or Denzel Washington, both phenomenal actors.”
To his fans, he wants to say, “The fans are EVERYTHING. Your support is EVERYTHING. Without you all there is no significance to any of this. My appreciation for the fans is insurmountable as they allow me to live my dreams. The critics only add fuel to competitive fire that is in my nature. They really don’t matter however.”
Akhil leaves me with the motto he likes to live his life by, “Everything is what you perceive. I truly believe that the mind is the most powerful tool that one possesses. You can truly achieve anything you put your mind to. One just has to constantly visualize their goals and work towards achieving them and the universe will open itself up to those positive vibrations and energies.”
